NSW Rogainer of the Year Competition 2013

To congratulate our best rogainers and to encourage your participation, from 2013 NSWRA will run an annual Rogainer of the Year competition. Briefly, this will allocate points to all competitors in each category of an event as a proportion of the
winners’ score (i.e., maximum event score is 100). There will also be an overall winner. In addition, if you volunteer at an event, you’ll receive 75 points for each event up to a maximum of two events. We’ll run this scoring system across our current entry categories and events will be weighted to encourage participation in our longer bush events.

30 Years of NSW Rogaining Logo

Congratulations to Dan Howe for his winning design for the 30 Year Anniversary Logo. The Logo is now being proudly displayed on the website and will be used throughout the year on our maps and merchandise.

2013 Rogaining Calendar

The 2013 Calendar is now up on the website. So make sure you put the dates in your diary.

If you are keen to help out next year take a look at the gaps in the calendar, if any event roles take your fancy we'd love to hear from you! Don't think you are experienced enough? Don't worry!

We are proposing to run some mini workshops in the New Year on course-setting, event organisation and administration, and there are many experienced people we can put you in contact with. Plus course-setting, vetting and flag-collecting are great ways to practice your navigation.

10 February: the Metrogaine will be half an hour south of Newcastle. The same crew who regularly bring us the Lake Macquarie rogaine are working on a Metrogaine course in a great location.

3 March: the Minigaine will run again, and this time promises to be even bigger and better than before! This event is again a joint effort with the Orienteers as part of the Sydney Summer Series

27-28 April: Autumn Rogaine - so far this slot is open, insert your event here! If anyone is interested, we'd love to hear from you. The Autumn rogaine is traditionally a bush event but can be any duration/format you like

16 June: this will be the 50th Paddy Pallin Rogaine and co-ordinator Michael Watts is planning a big event to celebrate the occasion

17 August: the Lake Macquarie Rogaine returns again

19-20 October: the committee is discussing options for the Spring Rogaine, but so far nothing firm. This is also one where we'd love to hear from anyone keen to help out.

10 November: the Socialgaine - also open to insert your event here!

There are still plenty of opportunities to volunteer for 2013 - if you're interested in co-ordinating or course setting for an event next year, then we'd love to hear from you. Contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Ian Dempsey by email at volunteer@nswrogaining.org or phone 02 4943 5790.
