G'day rogainers,

Lake Macquarie 6/12 hour

Entries are now open for the Lake Macquarie Rogaine to be held on Saturday August 14th in the western area of Lake Macquarie in the Watagan Mountains. The event is included as part of the Lake Macquarie Games and is supported by the Lake Macquarie City Council. The location for this year’s event is in the Jilliby State Conservation Area with the hash house about 6km south west of Morisset and only 60 minutes north of Hornsby. The area is typical of the Watagans with beautiful rainforest, pristine creeks, friendly wildlife and an extensive track network. However it does have some dense vegetation and steep areas….

There is the option of a 6 or 12 hour event with both events starting at noon.

Enter on-line now using your credit card at the NSWRA web site: "www.nswrogaining.org".

Remember that for every event we offer two services you may find useful.  If your usual partner is otherwise engaged or you just can't find someone interested, try the "Partner Finder".  No car?  Want someone to share the cost or just liven up the trip?   Try the "Car Pooling" list. Access both services from the links on the event page.

 ACT 4 hour Nightgaine

If the Lake Macquarie event whets your appetite for some night-time navigation, think about entering the ACT Rob Roy Nightgaine on August 21st. See the ACTRA website for details:”

Spring 24 / 15 in 24 hour

Keep the weekend of 25/26th September free for the Spring 24 hour and 15-in-24 hour Rogaine.   The 24 hour event incorporates the NSW Championships for 2010, but is open to all. Don't be put off by the Champs - this is a completely open event that will cater for all speeds, ages, shapes, sizes and political persuasions!   It will be held on the western side of the Blue Mountains, 3 to 3.5 hours drive from Sydney.    The course setter Mike Hotchkis reports it is beautiful fast open forest, with mile after mile of spurs and gullies.  Sounds like one not to be missed!

Volunteering incentive

Have you been enjoying rogaining on a regular basis?   Think about volunteering for an event.   There are lots of ways to help out and keep the sport alive.  As an incentive NSWRA has a scheme for rewarding of major volunteers through free entry or training.   Visit the “volunteers”  link on the website and/or tick the potential volunteer box on your next entry. Our volunteer coordinator can help find the best option for you.
