Course Setter's Report

This year’s 3 hour Minigaine covered Sydney’s spectacular harbour foreshore around Mosman and Cremorne. Over 400 participants spent an enjoyable Sunday afternoon visiting secluded beaches, bush paths, mansions, wedding receptions and coffee shops, in between finding 50 Navlight control points. Again, the event was jointly organised with Orienteering NSW. We were ably supported by a very keen team of volunteers and were well nourished by the food stall run by senior students from Mosman High School, with proceeds going to the Tabitha Foundation.

Event Details

This event was included as one of the 27 events in the Sydney Summer Series of orienteering.  Note that you didn’t have to be competing in the Summer Series to take part in the Minigaine - it was an NSWRA event just like always.

It was a 3 hour event with a rolling start between 1 pm and 3 pm. The NSWRA NavLight system was used.

Location

The start/finish was at Mosman High School, Gladstone Ave, Mosman.

Hash House

Senior students from Mosman High School sold sausage sandwiches, cakes, fruit and drinks at the event. All proceeds will go to the Tabitha Foundation, which is a non-profit organisation seeking to help suffering families in Cambodia.

Who could enter?

Like all NSWRA rogaines, anyone could enter. You could enter as an individual or as a team of between 2 and 5 people.

Competition Categories

This was both a rogaining event and an orienteering event - the competition categories for each were different.

Rogaining:  For this event there were two divisions, "Individual" and "Team". The "Individual" division had only an "Open" category.  The "Team" division offered the usual range of categories. Each "Team" division team was automatically placed in every category for which it was eligible.

See the  "Competition Categories"  page for more details on rogaining categories. Prizes were awarded on the day for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each of the categories.

Orienteering Sydney Summer Series:   Only the scores for individual entrants, not teams (2 to 5 members), will be counted for the SSS. See the SSS competition categories at Sydney Summer Series and scroll to the bottom of the “results” tab.
