Where did the high scoring teams go?

Here is team 85's route

Description

This event incorporated the NSW Championships.

The Putty Rogaine was nestled at the top of the Howes Valley about an hour's drive north of Windsor and under 2 hours from Newcastle. The Hash house was at Dave Thurston's place which is the old roadhouse on the Putty Road.  Dave is an artist and does some incredible metal scuptures that you'll enjoy.  The adjoining property is Chapman Valley - 6,500 acres of private farm that now operates as a horse riding school and has been in the family since 1840.

There were many lookouts on this rogaine.  Wildflowers abounded and the course-setting team enjoyed the grevilleas, wattles, banksias, leptospermums and of course some orchids.  Birds range from delicate finches to the rambunctious black cockatoos that pull apart woody pears.  Large goannas could be seen and the sandy creeks were lined with wombat holes.

The event terrain was undulating with less rise and fall than the recent Lake Macquarie Rogaine.  Vegetation was mostly open eucalypt forest with quite a few cleared valleys and some old logging tracks.  Competitors received a specially prepared 1:25000 scale map with 20m contour interval and occasional index coutours.

Both the 6 hour event and the 24 hour championship event started at 12 noon on Saturday 19th October.

This was your chance to score maximum points in the "Rogainer of the Year" competion by entering the 24 hr event.
